SUNDAY READINGS

--------------------------------------------
Questions on Sunday's Readings for use by discussion groups,
prayer groups, or for individual prayer.
--------------------------------------------

First Reading
Isaiah, Chapter 63, Verses 16b-17, 19b and Chapter 64, Verses 2-7

1. Is there a veil that keeps you from seeing God’s presence at work in your life and in your world? How can you use Advent to lift that veil, to get more in touch with God in and around you?

2. Just how does a potter handle clay? Even though we wander away from the Lord, God treats us as a potter treats the clay. Explain this metaphor.

Second Reading
First Corinthians, Chapter 1, Verses 3-9

1. Paul gives thanks for gifts God have given to us. Make a list of them. Most of all, have you been called to “fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord”?

2. In what ways has God enriched you personally?

Gospel
Mark, Chapter 13, Verses 33-36

1. If you were a cautious gatekeeper waiting for the Lord of the house, what signs might you of God presence in the world and in your life?

2. As gatekeepers we are responsible for guarding God’s goods and creatures on earth. Do you have a responsibility here? Does your parish, the Church, your work place or office have any?
