SUNDAY READINGS

--------------------------------------------
Questions on Sunday's Readings for use by discussion groups,
prayer groups, or for individual prayer.
--------------------------------------------

First Reading
First Samuel, Chapter 3, Verses 3-10, 19

1. Is there confusion sometimes when God calls in your life? It took Samuel four times to get it right. Has there ever been a time when you have missed God’s call? Explain.

2. Samuel was a boy at the time of this reading. Doesn’t God usually wait till someone is older and more experienced? Or is the grace of the call enough? At what age did God call you?

Second Reading
First Corinthians, Chapter 6, Verses 13-15, 17-20

1. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you?” Are you ever aware of the Holy Spirit within you? Are you ever aware of it in other people’s lives? Give examples.

2. Do you call on the Holy Spirit for guidance when you need it? Do you get it? Explain. Who is the Holy Spirit? What can stand in the way of the Spirit’s presence in you?

Gospel
John, Chapter 1, Verses 35-42

1. Jesus asked, “What are you looking for?” He could have said, “What is most important to you?” How would you answer that question?

2. The second question: “Where are you staying?” could be restated, “Where can we spend time with you?” Do you spend time in the presence of God? Did the disciples find what they were looking for when they spent time with Jesus? What was that? Will it work for you?
